Poison & Lingerie
I was lucky enough to be a part of a fashion show/performance art piece exhibiting the new lingerie collection of the accessories designer du jour, Jules Kim. The event took place at Socialista, an understated old-world Cuba-inspired lounge in the West Village. The party photographer snapped the above photo of me, after the unveiling of the vintage-inspired lacey ensembles.
The evening was a gothic delight involving an intervention of high-waisted panties and delicate gold-chained suspenders. My father thinks the black wig, black lipstick, and black lingerie make me look “dangerous.” Accordingly, the theme of the performance, Arsenic & Old Lace, inspired the designer’s sister to create a specialty cocktail of champagne and blackberry “arsenic” liqueur droplets. It evokes Cary Grant’s fantastic comedy of errors in the play of the same name. Maybe ladies in lace are lethal after all.
