There is a group of young men and women willing to sell their virginity in a live auction so that filmmaker, Justin Sisley, can capture it for his documentary/“sociological experiment.” These guinea-pig-virgins are getting paid up to $20,000 each, in addition to 90% of the winning bid for their v-cards. The remaining 10% is being given to a brothel in Nevada where the debauched sexual transactions are slated to go down.
One of the contestants, a pretty Australian girl named Veronica, says she’s much more interested in making a statement about our culture’s virginity fetish than she is about raking in the dough. Does it seem like she is exploiting herself as a commodity and voluntary sex-slave? Or perhaps it’s just for the sake of cinema. What’s one degrading night of penetration if it buys you a flat in Melbourne? And who’s to say it will be any more degrading than losing her virginity “the old-fashioned way” — whatever that means.
